Shutterbugs, Dig It!, Best of the Best, Field Trip, Let's Party

On Monday the campers visited the library where there was a special guest who sang songs with the help of his guitar and banjo.  A few of our campers got to help out for a couple of songs too, and one of our counselors, Casey, got to be a part of the show!  During craft time back at the school, the campers got to look like an animal with the help of face paint, streamers, and construction paper.  Then they got their pictures taken as they walked down the catwalk.

On Tuesday the campers visited the Cambridge Pool as usual, but when they got back to school they made fossils! The campers used pressed a rubber bug into the clay to make an indent, and then poured plaster into the cup after taking the bug out.  When the plaster was dry (a few days later) the campers took the plaster out of the cup, and had a fossil of the bug!

On Wednesday the group went bowling.  If the campers get tired of bowling, then they usually have something else they can do, such as coloring/drawing, playing cards, or playing with their electronics.  When the campers got back to the school, they competed against others in a relay race and wall sits.

On Thursday the campers took a field trip to the Geology Museum on the UW-Madison campus! The campers learned about rocks and minerals, dinosaurs, fossils, and got to see rocks that glowed under a black light!

On Friday the campers did an egg hunt.  They had to find plastic eggs outside and inside, filled with candy or paper with a reward on it, such as move your clothes pin up.  After that, the campers visited Savannah Park, as well as the splash park.  It was the perfect day for it because it was warm! After snack the campers watched the cartoon version of the movie, "Alice in Wonderland".  Sorry there aren't any pictures! It was an exciting day and I forgot to grab the camera as I was helping all the campers.

Everyday Heroes, Stars & Stripes, Party in the USA!, Field Trip

Monday the campers made shields during craft time, and decorated it in a way that represented their hero.  We also visited the library on Monday, and the campers got to watch a magic show!  The rain kept us at the library a little longer than anticipated, but it had cleared up by the time we got back to the school, and the kids got to play with water balloons!

On Wednesday the campers had a guest speaker.  Officer Jim Donnell from the Madison Police Department brought his K9, Krahnie, to visit and do a demonstration.  After that, the campers made a splatter paint craft, where they would blow through a straw and spread the paint around on their paper plate.  The campers had another fun craft where they got to Tie-Dye! Campers tie-dyed socks, shirts, hankies, and pillow cases.  Just like every Wednesday, we also visited the bowling alley.

On Thursday the campers took a field trip to the Dream Park in Watertown before visiting Skate Express. The campers got to meet a lot of ducks and ducklings.  At skate express the campers who haven't quite learned to skate got to borrow a walker to help them stay up as they could focus on skating.

On Friday many campers were gone on vacation over the holiday weekend.  Because the school was closed, we had to take our group on a bonus field trip! We took the campers to see the movie "Inside Out" at Palace Cinema in Sun Prairie, where there are new reclining chairs.  After that, we went to the zoo where the kids got to see a lot of animals, including the new polar bear exhibit.
