The "Magic" of Camp

Today we played some fun gym games, made magic bubble wands, and went to the splash park. To end the day we watched Aladdin and ate magical delicious snack mix and drank magic potion!

The camper played a fun game called Rocks. 

During this game the campers must protect their team's rocks and try to get the other team's rocks.

Starin Park and Whitewater Aquatic Center

 The campers went on their first field trip of the summer. We went to Starin park and the Whitewater Aquatic Center. The campers had a blast! More pictures will be up on Shutterfly later today.

Today we made a craft for a family member, went to the dream park, and learned about teamwork. We had a great day! To see more photos of the day check out shutterfly!

We worked together to write a poem about teamwork! 

We played many fun teamwork games today! The campers worked together to pick up balls without their hands. Also, the campers played cross the river where the campers used lillypads to cross a river as a team. Lastly, the campers made a human knot and worked as a team to get untangled. The campers learned alot about teamwork and did a great job!

Don't forget we are going on a field trip tomorrow to Starin Park and Whitewater Aquatic Center! Each camper needs to bring their swimsuit, a towel, and a lunch. There are a lot of areas to swim at the Whitewater Aquatic Center appropriate for all ages. We will group children based on their swimming abilities and then they will be able to explore the aquatic center with a counselor! Here is a link to the aquatic center: http://www.whitewateraquatic.com/

Welcome!!

Welcome to DCC Summer Day Camp blog! This year we have a group of wonderful counselors, which are Justin Annen, Kurtis Mansfield, Kaitlyn Aceto, and Nicole Annen. We're all very excited for this summer and we hope the campers are too! Each day we will have different themes that will be filled with fun. This blog will be used to update parents, campers, and community members on the daily themes of the week, reminders, and updates of the activities, crafts, games, and special events that took place each day!

Week 1

Aloha Summer – Welcome!!! We want to start the summer off right by getting to know everyone in camp and going over all the fun activities summer has in store. ALOHA!!!
 

RESPECT–It's important that everyone in camp knows the rules and how to treat each other. We want this to be a positive environment for everyone!!! Let's have fun! 

We Are Family (Teamwork) – Camp is a place where we want to build friendship and become a big family. Today there will be a lot of cooperative and teamwork games to create a positive atmosphere!

Field Trip – Whitewater Aquatic Center & Starin Park

The Magic of Camp – Today will explore all the wonderful things magic has to offer. The campers will learn card tricks and other magical games. To end day we will watch magic come to life in the Disney movie Aladdin!

Week 2 

Time Travelers– Traveling through time! We are going to make time capsules and learn about the past and future.

Prime Time Slime– Pull up your sleeves and get ready for a day of fun with slime! We will worm, squirm and slime our way through the day's activities.
 

Recycled Masterpiece – Reduce, reuse, recycle! We’ll learn about the importance of recycling while making fun crafts with reusable items and playing games!

Field Trip

Party in the USA– Get ready to travel around the USA! We will visit different states and watch the movie Cars! 

Week 3

Challenge Day – The campers will be challenged to think outside of the box and try new activities. The day will be filled with fun and exciting challenges that the campers be able to grow from. 

Birthday Party Bash & Cupcake Wars– It is party time!!! We will play many fun birthday games and we will decorate cupcakes! Get ready to have a blast with cupcakes!

Secret Agents – We are going undercover! The campers will be learning what it is like to be a secret agent and how to save the world! 

Field Trip  

Carnival Craze – Off to the carnival we go! The campers will be playing carnival games and will be making their very own ring toss game. To end the day the camp will be watching a movie full of carnival craze, Madagascar 3!

Week 4

Don't Forget Your Passport– Around the world we go! We will learn and travel to different countries. Also, the campers will create their own passports and try new things from around the world. 

Stars and Stripes– This day is dedicated to everything to support our troops! USA! USA!

Field Trip – Henry Vilas Zoo

Ocean commotion & Water Explosions- Time to get wet and wild! We will be learning about the ocean and playing tons of water games! Bring your a swimsuit and towel!  

Week 5

Healthy Heart - Campers will being learning about how to have a "Healthy Heart" and will be doing many fitness fun activities! A happy heart is a heathy heart! 

Rockstars – Rocking out at summer day camp! We will have fun with music all day! The campers will be making their own instruments and create their own music! 

Helping Hands– There are so many people in this world that need help and the campers will be lending a hand to help those in need. We will learn about charities and do service projects to help others. 

Field Trip 

Color Wars - The campers will be put in to teams by colors. Then the campers will be competing to win the color war championship! 

Week 6

Surprise Special Event  – Surprise!! We will be surprising the campers with many different activities. Be ready for the unexpected!!!

Imaginarium– Think outside of the box! The campers will be using their imaginations to solve puzzles and create their own island. 

To the Extreme – Everything will be done to the EXTREME! 

Field Trip– Dane County Fair

Read-A-Thon & Pajama day– Time to snuggle up with your favorite book. Campers can wear their pajamas and we will explore the wonderful world of books! 

Week 7

Game Show Mania – Come on down campers and make a deal! The campers will play many game show games.

Anything Goes– The campers will be given choices throughout the day and will contribute to planning out the activities.  Anything goes! (within reason) 

Record Breaking Day – The campers will be making their own "Guinness Book of Personal Records" and will be challenging themselves to break their own records.

Field Trip 

Last Bast– Let's have a blast at the last day of camp!!
